Christmas credit card debt warning

Consumers who have added to their credit card debt in the run-up to Christmas are being urged to take action now before it is too late.

Linda Wheatley of Esher CAB said: “The impact of unmanageable debt on people’s lives can be overwhelming, so if you do run into debt problems, don’t ignore them and hope they will go away — they won’t.

“Christmas is an expensive time of year for us all. Temptations and pressures are so great that it is hard to resist overspending. We are all bombarded with catalogues and special offers at Christmas but in January all the turkeys come home to roost."
